On Sunday 5th October, Winter Moods will be performing live at Lill-Hinn mid-Dizabilita, an event organised by the Disability Working Group of the Kunsill Nazzjonali taz-Zghazagh (KNZ). This event will be held at Mdina Bastion Square between 3pm and 6pm.
Lill-Hinn mid-Dizbilita is being organised for the general public to create awareness about the importance of disabled and non-disabled youth working together. This activity is open to everyone, disabled and non-disabled. The activity consists of four different workshops, dealing with art, music, drama and dance.
“This event will be an experience in itself for everyone who attends. We hope that the general public will understand that disabled people have abilities if society learns to include them,” said Hanan el Khatib, PRO at KNZ. “Lill-Hinn mid-Dizabilita will also encourage the disabled people’s self-confidence. This event is not a pity or charity campaign, but an activity by young people making a statement about inclusion, celebration of diversity and against discrimination.”
Lill-Hinn mid-Dizabilita will include a live performance by top local band Winter Moods at 5pm. The band’s performance will also emphasise the importance of working together and will feature sign language interpretation of some of the songs by hearing-impaired children.
“Winter Moods firmly believe in one society, that celebrates all forms of diversity and does not tolerate discrimination,” said Ivan Grech, frontman of Winter Moods. “The real meaning of including disabled people in daily life is not only about making places and facilities accessible to them, but more importantly about involving disabled people in decision-making.”
The workshops will be lead by both disabled and non-disabled people. Everyone is invited to take part, putting into practice the value of disabled and non-disabled working together. A message board will also be available on site for people to write a message about their experience of this activity.
Lill-Hinn mid-Dizbilita is being held at Mdina Bastion Square which is easily accessible by disabled people. The elements of accessibility will be prominent throughout the event.
Winter Moods are supported by Vodafone Malta, Peugeot, Air Malta, Hamilton Travel, The Alley, Jamesons and Video On Line.
