Thousands of people attended Winter Moods’ concert in Ghaxaq Grounds on Friday 27th May. The concert was organised by the Saint Joseph Band Club and Mr Wilfred Spiteri as part of the celebrations of the feast of St Joseph in Ghaxaq.
Special guests Chasing Pandora kicked off the night at 9pm. Winter Moods took to the stage at 10pm and entertained the crowd – which spilled from the football grounds into neighbouring streets – with a show of over two hours. The band performed some of their greatest hits and new music from their latest album Argento.
Jon Lukas Woodenman made a surprise appearance half way through the show for an acoustic rendition of his UK hit ‘I Can’t Afford to Lose’ together with Ivan and Melvin. This performance had originally been planned for the band’s concert at The Granaries, Floriana in July 2010, but had to be postponed when Jon was suddenly diagnosed with lung cancer. He has now recovered and this was his first live performance since.
During a touching moment in the concert, Winter Moods performed Miss You – a ballad from their latest album – in memory of their friend Edward Borg, who passed away recently.
The concert reached a climax with the performance of Marigold, Hang On To Your Smile and My Neverland, which were accompanied by spectacular effects, including fireworks, sparklers, confetti and giant bouncing balls.
The beneficiary of the concert was Puttinu Cares for Children Fund. The organisation received donations of €5,000 from this event.
Winter Moods are supported by Vodafone Malta Limited, Malta International Airport, KIA Motors, Hamilton Travel, Pulse Fitness Studio and Olimpus Music.
